“Incidental Precision” is a limited edition photobook by Siegfried Hansen, exploring a precise and disciplined approach to street photography where chance and control coexist. The images are found rather than staged, shaped through careful observation and formal clarity. Following his first publication with Eyeshot, this book expands Hansen’s work with a large selection of previously unpublished photographs alongside key images from his archive. The project highlights the evolution of his vision without altering its foundations. Hansen’s photography is defined by rigorous formal research. Geometry, light, shadow, and human presence are organized into structured visual relationships that transform the city into an abstract field. Human figures function as compositional elements rather than narrative subjects. Alternating between color and black and white, the book reveals a coherent visual language refined over time. “Incidental Precision” presents a mature and unified vision of street photography, where the strength of the image lies in restraint, structure, and precision of seeing.
